Organic compost improves soil structure, texture, and increases the soil's water holding capacity.  It also promotes soil fertility and stimulates healthy root development. If the soil is devoid of beneficial micro-organisms and nutrients, you simply will not have healthy plants. Maintaining healthy soil produces healthy plants, which are better able to withstand disease and insect damage. By feeding the soil, you provide plants with a good foundation for healthy growth.
